Supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation

July's Awareness Bracelet

This month’s Awareness Bracelet is proudly supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

We are donating 100% of the proceeds from every purchase of the Awareness Bracelet to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This means the price you pay for the bracelet is the amount donated.

What They Do

In very remote Indigenous communities, books are scarce and literacy levels are much lower than anywhere else in Australia. Their purpose is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books, but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.

The ILF’s vision is equity of opportunity focusing their programs on instilling a love of reading from an early age. They are aiming to gift 100,000 books to remote communities throughout Australia in 2020.

In 2019 they donated 97,000 books to remote communities throughout Australia. It is their 10th anniversary and that, during this year, they will publish their 100th book via their Community Literacy Projects.

Ambassador, Jessica Mauboy said, "kids in these communities are smart and often speak 2-3 languages, but English is often not their first language and they can therefore struggle to cope at school.”

Together with your help, we can help close the literacy gap in communities that need it most. Share your bracelet on social media and together we can keep
