5 Love Stories Shared by You

We teamed up with the wonderful Laura Bentley (@_laurabentley_) and asked you to share a little love on Valentine’s Day this year by sharing your love stories. We asked you to share what your special ‘moment’ was. When did you know? How did you meet? What’s your story? 

We read hundreds of beautiful stories of moments that truly made your heart sing, we truly wish we could share them all! There weren’t many dry eyes in the house after reading through the entries, from precious and simple to extravagant. We are so grateful to everyone who shared their stories with us!

"It all started when he lent me his jacket in true gentleman style when I was cold..."

‘My husband (Alvaro) and I are high school sweethearts, having been with each other since year 12. It all started when he lent me his jacket in true gentleman style when I was cold. We hit it off as we made each other laugh and had a lot in common. Years later he proposed to me in a beautifully sentimental, one-of-a-kind way - a day full of surprises including lunch at our favourite restaurant (I’d thought we were celebrating our dating anniversary so didn’t quite catch on just yet), and then later in the evening I was to meet him somewhere I wasn’t to find out about until the time came. 

Alvaro had arranged for my Dad to have me blindfolded for this part of the day’s adventures so that I wouldn’t see where we were driving to (it was all a bit of an exciting surprise!). Upon arrival (still blindfolded), my Dad counted to ten (and actually left at this point) and I removed my blindfold to see in front of me the grassy paddock where Alvaro and I had once had our first picnic together, but it was lit up with little fairy lights leading to a beautifully lit marquee with Alvaro standing in the midst of it, dressed in formal attire, smiling at me. 

My heart skipped a beat as I was overwhelmingly happy and filled with emotion! He tenderly held my hands and told me how much he loves me and how much I mean to him, recounting all the memories we’d had so far, and all the memories to come. He then got on one knee and presented a stunning ring and of course, I said yes! We had tears in our eyes from so much happiness and held each other under the stars, surrounded by fairy lights. Years later and we have 2 beautiful children (a little girl and little boy), and we couldn’t be happier. The photo I selected is the day we got married and began our lives together living happily ever after.’

‘This giveaway struck a chord with me because my Nan always wears a locket with a photo of her and my pop whose love is so inspiring. They are hilarious, two best friends who enjoy life so much and when I’m with my partner, it fills me with so much love in my heart to know that it’s as special as my nan and pops!’

"We met in grade 4, my first day at a new school. He sat next to me and we started talking..."

‘We met in grade 4, my first day at a new school. He sat next to me and we started talking and that was the first day I loved him. We stayed friends all throughout school and started dating at 17. 13 years later we are married have two gorgeous children and are living our beautiful life together.’

"I would get tingly butterfly feelings when I was on my way to pick him up from the airport..."

‘My moment? To be honest...I’m not even sure. We met online in 2015 over social media, did long distance for 3 years until I left my home to go stay with him. Had our son 5 years into our relationship during COVID and now finally moving back home after 3 years.

I would like to think my moment was when I would get tingly butterfly feelings when I was on my way to pick him up from the airport...or the longing for each other after months of not seeing one another. Or maybe it’s when I see him with our son, watching him grow as a dad, as my partner and as an individual.

But I also think my moment is now; being a mum and a loving partner.’

‘The day we met. I was 17 and he was 20. After school I worked at Target Country (we lived in a small country town). The casuals were made to clean up the messy store after the day. I was in manchester, just straightening the sheets as I do, and this good looking guy asked for my help. Me of all people! 

He had just moved into his own home and was getting things set up. He really wanted to buy tractor sheets, I clearly thought ‘what a child’ and told him to get plain white. He bought the white ones. The most expensive. Ones he hated. But got them because I suggested it. We talked for a bit while I was at work, and he came back the next day. We have been together 10 years this year and married for 2; and there is no one one else on this earth I would rather have standing with me today than tractor sheets guy.’
