The Beading Workshop for Variety Tasmania

Stretching Awareness

If you’ve seen our social posts lately, you might’ve noticed a lot of colour and a lot of kids in them, which to be honest, is a little unusual for us. The reason? We threw a kids’ beading workshop as part of our Awareness Campaign! The campaign raises funds and awareness for a different charity each month and when we realised that the Variety Awareness Bracelet would coincide with school holidays, we couldn’t resist throwing a workshop!

So Who’s Variety?

Variety is a children's charity that believes all children deserve to have the opportunity to follow their dreams and to be the best they can be. Every year the organisation provides support to thousands of sick, disadvantaged or special needs children. Through grants Variety is able to help families with things like mobility equipment, medical items, communication devices and therapy services.

Back to the workshop…

On Thursday July 19th, 75 kids and one Variety Monster showed up, ready to learn how to make an official Franc stretch bracelet!

First up, DIY rainbow bracelet. Each kid received a box of colourful rainbow beads and after that we let their creativity take over. From blue hues to bracelets that embraced the whole spectrum, the kids certainly added their own flair.

After decorating their boxes, the kids moved onto beading the White Agate Awareness Bracelet. As each child finished, they signed their name and age on a special card to accompany the bracelet they made.

Of course we couldn’t let them leave without a floss challenge! The kids lined the stage as they flossed their lives out competing for some Franc vouchers! Even some of the Franc Fam had a go.

The White Agate Awareness bracelets that were beaded by the kids can be purchased here or in store. $20 from each bracelet will be donated to Variety the Children’s Charity Tasmania.

A special thank you goes to St Michael’s Collegiate, Queen’s Pastry, The Party Room & Sandy Bay Bakery.
